During my summer internship, I did the JTA tourn and the Naval SAME camp. The time I spent at these locations was very informative and interesting. I learned a lot of things about the city of Jacksonville and spent a week on a military base constructing and destroying many things. I had lots of fun and would recommend it.
The JTA tour was a day trip around the city of Jacksonville. During the trip, we started off at the bus station where all the buses are held. We went around to various locations and landmarks. Some of these locations were the city’s metro station, where they repair the carts, a memorial, and the ferry. The ferry was very cool because we were able to see the cabin and the engine room, which was very neat.
During the weeklong Military camp, I was grouped up with nine other kids as my team. My group was team Echo. During my stay, we made our flags, came up with a plan to build a concrete beam, and built the beam. After we did that, we went to an officer’s club to build a popsicle bridge. We worked on building a cardboard boat that we raced in the pool on base. The camp was a lot of fun, and we met lots of high-ranking officers on the base. The whole internship experience was very enjoyable, and I would recommend it to others.
