For my internship experience, i was placed in the Human Resources and Organizational Development department at the Jacksonville Transportation Authority. Although there were some initial complications in aligning my placement directly with my career goal, I was able to gain a glimpse into the work of electrical engineers. Being placed in HROD department offered me a completely different perspective on the professional world, allowing me to explore the responsibilities of HR professionals and encouraging me to consider additional career paths before entering the workforce.
During my time at JTA, I worked on several projects including filing documents, creating both physical and digital files, scanning and sending records, inputting employee information into spreadsheets and tracking employee activities such as training completions. Through these tasks I acquired valuable skills such as handling sensitive employee information, using Microsoft excel effectively organizing files and managing my time efficiently. These experiences helped me build a strong foundation in administrative processes and workplace professionalism.
Participating in the AnnieRuth Foundation Summer Internship Program was instrumental in preparing me for future success. It broadened my understanding of career possibilities and taught me the importance of keeping an open mind when considering my professional future. Rather than focusing solely on one career path, I learned to explore multiple options and remain adaptable. This experience has empowered me to make more informed decisions about my future and has given me the confidence to pursue opportunities that align with both my interests and strengths.
