Student Internship Experiences

Skylah J.

As an aspiring cultural/social anthropologist with an interest in Finance, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to intern at Community First Credit Union.

Being at the credit union taught me so much about responsibility, attention to detail, and efficiency. During my time at community First, I served as a “shadow” teller learning how to handle deposits, checks, serve members at a better than satisfactory level. One of the best parts of my internship experience was learning about the responsibilities and roles of everyone and coming to see how much they love their job and the environment. The amazing people at Community First taught me how to pay attention to detail and care about each member. Although I did face some challenges, I had someone there to help me figure things out every step of the way.  I am appreciative of everyone at Community First Credit Union who was instrumental in my growth experience.

Participating in the AnnieRuth Foundation’s summer internship program has equipped me with the necessary skills to handle all challenges that have and will come my way.  The business seminars required me to wake up early in the morning; as difficult as it was, I knew it would pay off in the end and it most definitely has.  I am grateful to AnnieRUTH for an amazing experience and opportunity, I would also like to thank them for their time, patience and support. As I have recently graduated high school the lessons I learned at AnnieRuth are invaluable and I encourage everyone to let their upcoming seniors and juniors know about the program so that they too may be prepared for life.
