My name is Shruthi, and I am an award recipient for the 2025 AnnieRuth Foundatino’s Summer Internship program. My career aspiration is to be in neurology, and I aim to become a Neurologist, although this internship has increased my interest in the research field.
Before starting my internship, I completed the 10-month training and development segment, where I got to refine my professional skills and prepare for the internship in the summer. I learned valuable skills such as networking, preparing for interviews, and learning self-care. I became an award recipient after accumulating sufficient points and completed an internship over the summer.
I started off my internship with a BLS workshop, where I got to earn my BLS certificate. I completed the rest of my internship as part of the Mayo Clinic SPARK program. In this program, I developed my own research project, which I did on pancreatic cancer, and ran experiments and collected data regarding my project. I also developed several lab skills and techniques, which will aid me if I decide to take the research route.
I am grateful to the AnnieRuth Foundation for not only training me with invaluable skills during the training and development segment (which I’ll use for the rest of my career), but also for giving me an opportunity to get hands-on experience in the career field of my interest.
