My name is Ciara. I am 18 years old and currently Freshman at FSCJ. One of my career aspirations is to become an entrepreneur, which is why I was placed with Custom Strategic Solutions for my virtual internship experience. My mentor throughout this experience was Monique Thompson, the owner of CSS.
During my internship experience, I worked on several projects. Each project was centered around building my own business. I developed new skills and gained valuable knowledge about what it takes to start and run a successful business. The first project was to create a business idea summary along with a vison board so I could focus on what I wanted my business to be about. The second project was a brand identity kit where I designed my logo, crafted a slogan, chose color scheme, and more. These two projects helped me create my social media strategy and business model. Having a clear idea and model of my business will be helpful when I decide to launch it.
The AnnieRuth Foundation’s summer internship program has been amazing. It has shown me what I am truly passionate about personally and professionally. The monthly seminars with various mentors provided good insight and inspiration for my future. Thanks to this internship experience, I realize that entrepreneurship might not be my full-time career path. Instead, I would like to pursue it alongside a full-time career.
