Student Internship Experiences

Sydney H.

My name is Sydney and my career aspirations is to be a Physician’s Assistant specializing in Pediatrics or Gynecology.

Thanks to the AnnieRuth Foundation, I have been able to work with Pareto Clinic for six amazing weeks. This internship started with doing administrative tasks such as faxing documents, scanning them into the patient portal and shredding papers. within my first two weeks. The likeability started to increase after talking to Ms. Dee and around the 4th of 5th week I was able to go to the Pearl location and learn from the PA there. One of the biggest things I learned is to be able to stand up for myself when situations aren’t going the way I thought they would, especially after working hard to get a specific position. One of my projects was a brochure for Pareto showcasing the services they provide, messages from the partners, history of the clinic, testimonials from employees and other information about the clinic. I also did a short video showing the ins and outs of the clinic, explaining how helpful, compassionate and caring they are to patients.

The AnnieRuth Foundation has been impactful for me to understand how the clinic life will be. I think it allowed me to see the dynamic of the employees in the clinic all working together in a team like fashion. I don’t know if this prepared me for college future success, but it somewhat did for after college life. I am able to see what life is like through the eyes of an adult with responsibilities more than just their personal life.
