Student Internship Experiences

Jadyn B.

During this summer, I was blessed to pursue my dream career of becoming a graphic designer.  Through the AnnieRuth Foundation’s Summer Internship Program, I got the chance to intern at Client Focused Media; a multi-media company that offers many different services, in additoin to graphic design. I got to experience firsthand what working in a professional creative environment is like, and it was lifechanging. I was excited from day one to dive into the world of graphics design and see how it works in real time, including behind the scenes.

During the internship experience, I was allowed to be involved in different projects that helped me to enhance my design skills while also understanding the clients and their needs. I created an event flyer for the AnnieRuth Foundation, a project I was ecstatic to do because I was giving back to the organization that gave me this chance in the first place! I also helped create social media graphics for the KING OF THE BEACH event and Sissine’s Office Systems cybersecurity. In addition to my graphic work, I was also given the opportunity to shadow different departments within the company—from account management to video production. These helped to give me a general overview of the entire media industry. Even though I got to see all of them and experience them firsthand, I discovered that my interest in graphic design hadn’t changed.

Being a part of the AnnieRuth Foundation’s internship program was very helpful in preparing me for future success. It didn’t only give me real-life experiences that I can apply to the workplace, but also a sense of how to work with others, the importance of completing assignments before deadlines, and how to effectively pitch my ideas professionally. This experience has further confirmed my career path and given me many tools and life lessons that I wouldnt be able to learn anywhere else. I’m so grateful for the exposure this program has offered me, and I’m confident it’s a steppingstone on the way to realizing my dreams.
